part of any members of the General Post Office Staff and
take such steps as may be necessary to ascertain who the offender is and report the result of his investigations
to the Postmaster-General.
He will keep the lists of applicants for employment in the
General Post Office and ascertain as far as possible the
qualifications and record of all condidates.
He will generally assist in the maintenance of discipline in
the General Post Office and branches when prosent.
He will be present at the monthly kit inspection of postmen
and occasionally at the morning muster to check the roll-
-call.
He will always be dressed in uniform while on duty unless
specially ordered to wear mufti.
He will perform not less than 7 hours duty daily except on
Sundays and holidays when special duties will if neces-
-sary be allotted to him.
He will make himself acquainted with the duties of the Postal
clerks and ascertain by personal inspection that they
are performing their duties regularly and honestly.
He will bring up all defaultering postmon and if punished see
that the Records are properly entered up.
He will check the postmen's record books from time to time.
He will inspect the Geral Post Office carts once monthly
and report if any repairs are required and fill in the
necessary requisition on the S. D.
